[Ever since New Years, he's taken to trying to stay indoors when he can, venturing out only when necessary. Since the arrival of a certain short blond alchemist's parents, he's been trying to keep an even lower profile... because it's cold outside, and automail is metal, and getting punched by a cold metal fist is not high on his list of priorities.

After all, what if it was like getting your tongue stuck to an ice cube? What if he wound up stuck to Edward's arm? And of course, this opens up a whole new can of worms that he doesn't even want to think about because he isn't the one with the metal limbs...

But even more pressing is the fact that he's noticed something here and there on the floor of his apartment: feathers. His feathers. Not a lot, but definitely not just one or two. This means the question must be asked, and so he turns to the journal and its video function.]

Perhaps someone else will be able to answer this, but is this [A pause as he turns the journal to point at the feathers on the floor] normal?

[. . . .well.

Colonel. That's uh....wow, Trisha's surprised.]

....are you molting?

[Hi, colonel. Guess who noticed your flirting.]

Normal for lonely perverted 30-year-olds, maybe.

[Much as he hates his dad he would hate you as one EVEN MORE 8D]

I've never seen that before.

[yeah that doesn't look so good, Roy. Estelle is concerned even though she doesn't know you.]

...I don't believe so. Are you feeling all right?

Yes, they're just molting lightly. Perfectly normal. You might be be feeling weak for a little while, but that will pass.

[Doesn't happen often, but it happens. Be a doctor in Luceti long enough and you come across it.]

If the shedding of feathers gets any heavier, it would probably be a good idea to stop in at one of the clinics, though.

Maybe you're dying, Colonel. How do you feel?

I've never heard of it before. Our feathers here typically don't molt at all.

In fact, it's typically very painful if any are harmed or lost, or sometimes a sign of illness. Are you feeling alright?

I haven't seen it before, but.. as long as it doesn't hurt, it can't be too bad, right? [ a sigh. ] Maybe we all seriously molt too, like we're some kind of animals with these things.

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2012-01-08 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Might be a cold or something. We don't usually molt unless there's either an experiment or something else going on, or you aren't feeling well.

Or maybe stressed.

'Less you're feeling sick in other ways though, maybe ride it out for a day or two. Go to the clinic if it lasts longer than that, though.

...And I guess the rest of us will just keep an eye out for anything weird going on.

...I've never seen that happen before...

Oh! But maybe they'll grow back in a new color! That'd be pretty, at least~.

Doesn't seem normal to me. [LOSING FEATHERS in fact seems like a very bad thing when losing a wing can kill you instantly.] Maybe there are some wing experts around here that know something about it.

...And in the meantime, you can stuff a new pillow. [Totally practical.]
